ABOUT LETTERPRESS

These cards are printed letterpress. In letterpress printing the raised surface of the type is inked and then pressed against paper or card to obtain an image in reverse. The process requires a high degree of craftsmanship. Nowadays it is used to produce fine handmade limited-edition books, and high-end ephemera such as cards and broadsides.

Fine letterpress work is crisper than offset litho because of its impression into the paper and density of ink, giving greater visual definition to the type and artwork.
